SEO Myth: Registering your URL with hundreds of Search Engines

SEO MythsI just finished writing a quick presentation for BlogPaws West (a really cool conference for pet bloggers) , where I’ll be debunking (that’s a word, right?) some common SEO Myths later this week. So, I figured, “What the heck”, I might as well blog about them as well.

Here’s one that I see a lot of. I get emails spam from many so-called SEO companies touting their service of  registering your site with hundreds of search engines for a small monthly fee.

First of all, there aren’t “hundreds of search engines”. There are only a few search engines that really matter.

Google with 71.43 % of the market, Yahoo with 14.43%, Bing 9.86%, and Ask with a whopping 2.32% of users.

Secondly, you do not need to submit your URL to any of the Search Engines in order for them to index your site/blog. It is best to let them find your site via links from other sites.

Don’t fall for this old myth—it’s a waste of time and money.

Myth…debunked!
