With the massive increse in ads on youtube , which im findind very intrusive. Im moving away from youtube.

22 Johnny March 20, 2011 at 4:44 PM

Actually it is the other way around then what was poster here below. Yes google inc bought youtube. However they did so because google video was a HUGE let down. They basically bought them to eliminate the competition and very succesfully. Many saw this coming from the very beginning and I had expected that they had bought Youtube to one day silently converting it to a sort of google video.

23 bob March 16, 2011 at 6:26 PM

Thanks very much for your post. Youtube has been sidestepping itself into more annoying and invasive features on pretty much a quarterly basis. You can just feel that there is some overpaid evil lackey-nitwit who has some sort of “strategic roadmap” that winds up with Youtube being able to sell personal information of…. and draw fees from…. a gazillion people worldwide. Now in reality, this nitwit will kill off all that is good about Youtube and turn it into another also-ran type of service… they always have that effect… but by then, the nitwit in question will be on to ruining the next great technology. Remember when hotmail was great? How about Myspace? This might make you laugh – might have been before your time, but I swear to you as I sit here that AOL used to be wonderful. But eventually some nitwit comes along and dangles dollar bills and says: “If we can just attract 10,000,000 complete morons and suck them dry…” and next thing you know, a big company injects a big wad of cash (or does an outright purchase) and the once wonderful service starts down that slippery path to mediocrity and creepiness. Jesus… Facebook is about halfway there already… But I digress. Thanks for summarizing some other good options as I just don’t feel good about using Youtube to serve videos for my website anymore. I was bopping around on my site the other day testing links and “Bam” up comes a F*ng pre-roll advertisement from a frame in which I serve vids from Youtube. That was the last straw. When pointing at a video I previously tested to be advertisement-free not only brings up an ad… but brings up a F*ng preroll… (which causes somewhere between 15% to 25% of your site visitors to leave your website) then Youtube has just screwed with my customer experience. For that, I have no choice but to remove them from my customer experience completely. They’re welcome to what they’ll have left when they’ve driven away all the people who currently post quality independent content on their site and who drive quality traffic to their site. They can have the 14-year-old “video of my cat playing the piano” crowd and the “thumbs up if you…” and the “If you read this three times and then…” crowds. For all the good it’ll do them. Good riddens to them. They are today’s falling giant – tomorrow’s laughing stock.

24 Brightcove March 15, 2011 at 1:40 PM

Another great YouTube alternative is Brightcove. They let you customize your videos and their online video player works across pretty much all devices, like PCs, tablets, smart phones, and TVs. You should check them out now at http://www.brightcove.com because they’re currently doing a free trial.

I wish there was a list out there that told ud marketing people which video sharing sites allow link building for SEO purposes. Thanks for the list. You just can’t beat the traffic from YouTube!

26 fuzi January 19, 2011 at 10:36 AM

it’s good to have alternatives ..but youtube traffic is unbeatable ..my 2cents..

27 ConcordantMind October 27, 2010 at 3:04 PM

This is just something you have to accept about this company and their websites. Youtube AND Google do NOT care about their community. They most recent imposed sublimits to the dismay of practically everybody on the site. They will not respond to help questions. They make no announcements before their changes. They simply do whatever they want whenever they want because they see us as freeloaders, not the people who helped them build a community. Youtube, up through this very MOMENT, has not turned a penny in profit, and there has been nothing but horrible changes to it since the Google buyout. It is sad watching these companies destroy the account and popoularity of the very channels that made them popular and not even figure out how to earn a buck while doing it. I will retain my youtube account, but they honestly sicken me, and the moment there’s another player in the game I”m jumping ship, but as of yet, nothing adds up. And lots of sites embed my videos anyway. So I will just keep composing and keep blogging and laugh when youtube finally crumbles. (And the same goes for that other arrogant abhorrent monster : FACEBOOK.) I predict Google will eventually have to sell off youtube. The partner program will not offset costs and Google can’t keep pumping money into a losing business model. And hey check out my channel! (LOL)

Another option for Video sharing is http://www.RedGage.com. The RedGage Community allows video sharing and broadcasting tools. You can use a YouTube importer and also make money from your page views.

35 Ps December 6, 2009 at 12:04 AM

I plan on moving all my videos and hopefully most of my large subscriber base away from youtube. It is sad when haters out there dont like your video and it is well inside the guidelines of their “TOS” and gets flagged and removed. My suggestion is move away from any company that offers advertising. The moment i declined advertising from youtube they flagged my videos and removed them. Youtube is a scam and lost all of its creditability. I guess unless your a cute 13 year old boy who sings or a left wing crazed activist, you have no place in youtube anyways. I am looking for a non biased alternative or i might just make one myself.

36 Tommy Newcomb November 11, 2009 at 8:55 PM

Yah, youtube also removes any sound you add that they deem copyright violations. Very disappointed.

Background Checks

37 jj October 22, 2009 at 5:07 PM

Liveleak.com is an actual “alternative” to what you have listed here.
All of these options are basically “controlled by the man” ; )

38 Mickel October 21, 2009 at 11:07 AM

Good share . Thanks for the list

@ peledies
Youtube was indeed bought over by Google , but Google Video and Youtube are 2 separate sites , Google video sucks tho , given its from big G , they should revamp the whole system .

Nevertheless Good Post

Best Regards,
Mickel – Founder YourTVShow.com
