Before you embark on intensive keyword research for your website or blog, make sure you really know who your prospects are.
I know what you’re thinking… Dah, that’s obvious, Mary. But you’d be surprised how many small business owners don’t have a good handle on who their online audience really is.
So, ask yourself these questions upfront:
- Who is your target audience?
- What are their demographics (sex, race, age, income, education, home ownership, employment status, location, disabilities, mobility, etc.)
- What problem(s) are they trying to solve?
- What needs do they have?
- Where are they in their buying cycle?
- What kind of prompts or calls to action do they respond to?
If you’re not sure, do your homework and find the answers to these questions. Targeting the right keywords for the right prospects, will ultimately reap conversions. And that’s what it’s all about, right?
So, how about you? Do you know who your prospects are? Got some questions to add to this list? Let me know.
